about us
Motivation
We believe that there is a lot of room for improvement in education. Despite much progress in education science, cognitive science, psychology etc., as well as powerful new technologies, public school systems internationally have been slow to adapt and apply many of these insights. The private school sector, meanwhile, is dominated by conservative, outdated, or dogmatic approaches, with very few alternative schools willing to undergo outside evaluation. Considering that education is likely to be critical in ensuring a worthwhile future for humanity, this is not only a sad, but a dangerous state of affairs.
Short-term goals
We want to create a network of evidence-based schools undergoing constant evaluation, to serve as a testbed for innovative approaches to pedagogy, didactics, and curriculum design. Through short evaluation cycles and controlled studies, we hope to both advance education science and constantly improve our concepts. We will start with one school in Vienna, Austria, and provide support to anyone who wants to start a similar project.
Long-term goals
Eventually, we hope to refine our concept and prove its worth so that our schools can serve as a blueprint and inspiration for public education reform. We believe that private schools can only be a stopgap solution, and that evidence-based quality education should be available for everyone.
Who we are
We are a small (but growing) group of educators and idealists from central Europe who are dissatisfied with the current state of our public school systems and the lack of diversity in the private school sector.
